Gastric Adenocarcinoma in a Patient with X-Linked Agammaglobulinemia and HIV: Case Report and Review of the Literature

چکیده
Patients with primary immunodeficiency are at an increased risk of cancer. Our case and literature review indicate an association between X-linked agammaglobulinemia and gastrointestinal malignancy and suggest that screening for gastrointestinal malignancy should occur for patients with X-linked agammaglobulinemia and gastrointestinal symptoms, unexplained anemia, or atrophic gastritis. X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) is an X-linked inherited disease caused by a germline mutation in the BTK gene leading to Bruton’s tyrosine kinase deficiency, which results in the impaired development of B-lymphocytes and a subsequent lack of immunoglobulin production. Patients with XLA have an increased susceptibility to bacterial and viral infections, and multiple case reports have been published regarding an association between XLA and gastrointestinal (GI) malignancy. Here, we describe a case of a 25-year-old man with XLA and HIV, who developed gastric adenocarcinoma. Previously reported cases of XLA and GI malignancy are also reviewed and summarized.

Prophylactic gastrectomy in familial gastric cancer: case report and review of literature
Absract Gastric cancer is the fourth most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death. Most cases are sporadic and only 10% of patients, show familial clustering. Among these patients, 1 to 3 % have hereditary diffuse gastric cancer (HDGC), which is autosomal-dominant and present in younger ages. Mutations in Ecadherin gene CDH1 has been identified in 30 to 50% of patient...

Gastric carcinosarcoma is a rare cancer of adults with poor prognosis compared with other gastric malignancies. To the best of our knowledge, the present report is the first case of gastric carcinosarcoma with chondroblastic differentiation in Iran. A 63-year-old man with epigastric pain was admitted to the surgery department. Abdominopelvic CT-scan showed a hypodense mass lesion in distal gast...
متن کاملDeficient Expression of Bruton's Tyrosine Kinase in Monocytes from X-Linked Agammaglobulinemia as Evaluated by a Flow Cytometric Analysis and its Clinical Application to Carrier Detection
Background: The B-cell defect in X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) is caused by mutations in the gene for Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK). BTK mutations result in deficient expression of BTK protein in peripheral blood monocytes. Methods: Using the anti-BTK monoclonal antibody (48-2H), a flow cytometric analysis of intra cytoplasmic BTK protein expression in monocytes was performed to identify I...

Pyoderma vegetans (PV) is a rare inflammatory disorder characterized by vegetating pustules and plaques affecting the skin and mucosal membranes. It is believed that this entity is mostly associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), chronic malnutrition, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), malignancies, and other immunocompromised states. Pyoderma vegetans occurs more commonly in young and...
متن کاملPRIMARY PANCREATIC LYMPHOMA: A CASE REPORT AND LITERATURE REVIEW
Primary pancreatic lymphoma is a rare extranodal manifestation of any histopathologic subtype of B cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that predominantly involves the pancreas. It comprises less than 0.2% of pancreatic malignancies and less than 0.7% of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. This lymphoma is almost never suspected clinically. It is usually diagnosed by surgical exploration for suspected adenoca...
